** Tasty Jerk, Accra

I was walking down a main road in Osu, Accra when I smelled the most wonderful smell of meat being grilled to perfection. I was actually looking for another restaurant when my nose told me to stop here and grab a table. My nose was absolutely right! Many people describe food as mouth-watering, but the very air here in this simple restaurant will literally make you salivate. I was greeted warmly and a menu was handed over and my beer arrived swiftly. As I was sitting outside I noticed that the advertising outside said “The real taste of Boston Bay Portland Jamaica”. Jerk Chicken is obviously a Caribbean dish, but these folks give it that something extra.

I ordered a combo dish with both pork (called Bra Charles in Ghana) and chicken. This was served with boiled rice covered in Kpakposhito, which is a spicy hot green pepper sauce. The sauce is a bit on the hot side, but exploding with flavour. And the meat was moist, succulent and delicious. Between using the rice and the meat being served without a sauce on it, the Kpakposhito was evened out for a perfection of flavours. Amazing.

They have a well deserved reputation for the best pork in Accra, but don’t miss out and have a combo dish like I did.
